This guide explains how to set up Liberador on your Google TV device, offering both the app-based configuration and a manual DNS fallback:
Using the Liberador App (Recommended)
Manual SmartDNS Setup (Alternative)
Method 1: Using the Liberador App (Recommended)
The Liberador app is the easiest and most powerful way to use our service on your Google TV. It allows you to switch between different modes with a single tap and automatically keeps your IP address updated.
Setup Instructions
- Install the App: Open the Play Store on your Google TV (or go to Apps), search for "Liberador VPN" and install our app.
- Open the App & Sign In: Launch the Liberador app and sign in with your Liberador account credentials.
The app allows you to activate one of two modes - SmartDNS or VPN. If you do not know which mode to use, you can understand better the modes reading this article : What’s the Difference Between SmartDNS, SmartVPN, and VPN?
A) To use SmartDNS Mode
- Switch to the SmartDNS tab at the top.
- Toggle Activate → this will:
- Configure your system DNS to Liberador’s SmartDNS servers.
- Automatically update your public IP in your Liberador account.
- (Optional) If SmartDNS is blocked or you're on a restricted network: Toggle the Secure DNS (SmartVPN) option to ON. This will encrypt your DNS queries to help them pass through network filters.
-
Check Your Status: Confirm that all three status indicators are green:
- DNS Configured
- IP updated
- Subscription active

B) To use VPN Mode
- Switch to the VPN tab.
- Tap on the current country if you want to select another server country, then tap on your desired country from the list.
Tap Activate to establish a full-tunnel VPN and encrypt all traffic.
- Check Your Status: The status should show Connected.
You are now ready to open your streaming apps!
Tip: Some streaming services work better with SmartDNS, while others require full VPN. If one mode fails, try the other.

Method 2: Manual SmartDNS Configuration (Alternative)
Use this method only if you prefer a persistent DNS setup without needing an app.
Note: This method does not enable automatic IP updates, Secure DNS, or full VPN.
Requirement: Before you begin, note the Wi‑Fi network’s router IP (gateway) and network prefix/netmask. You will need these to complete the manual SmartDNS setup. If you don’t know them, check your router’s admin page or view the current network details on another device on the same Wi‑Fi.
- Go to Settings → Wi-Fi on your Google TV.
- Select your Wi‑Fi network.
- Write down the current IP address displayed in the network details on the right (e.g.,
192.168.1.6). - Open IP settings.
- Set IP settings to Static.
- Enter the IP address you noted in step 3.
- Enter your router's IP address in the Gateway field (e.g., 192.168.1.1).
- Enter the Network prefix length (e.g., 24 for netmask 255.255.255.0).
- Enter the DNS servers:
- DNS 1: 45.63.105.236
- DNS 2: 51.91.192.251
-
Update Your IP in Liberador
- Open a browser on your Google TV and visit https://liberador.net/accounts/profile/.
- Sign in, click Update IP, and ensure you see three green checks:
- DNS servers set correctly
- IP address updated
- Subscription status is active
- If you can’t use the TV browser, open that page on a phone or computer on the same network—be aware that only a browser on your Google TV accurately reflects your Google TV’s DNS status.
Verify Setup: The page should now show three green checks for DNS, IP, and Subscription status.
Restart Your Google TV: Unplug your Google TV for 10 seconds or use the Settings → System → Restart option to clear its old DNS information.
After restarting, your streaming apps should work correctly.

Quick Troubleshooting
Having trouble? Here are solutions to common issues.
SmartDNS:
-
SmartDNS is not working: In the app’s SmartDNS tab confirm you get three green checks (DNS, IP, Subscription).
- Red DNS Indicator: Tap Activate SmartDNS (if already activated but it is still red, then enable Secure DNS).
- Red IP Indicator: Your public IP has changed. In the app’s SmartDNS tab, tap Update IP; or open https://liberador.net/accounts/profile/ on the TV browser on a device on the same network and click Update IP.
- Red Subscription Indicator: Your subscription has expired. Tap Subscribe in the app or visit https://liberador.net/accounts/order-subscription/ to renew.
-
SmartDNS - All Checks are green but it is still not working:
This is usually caused by outdated location data stored on your device.- Force Stop the Streaming App: Go to Settings → Apps → [Your Streaming App] → Force Stop.
- Restart Your Google TV: The most effective way is to go to Settings → System → Restart. This clears the device's temporary cache.
-
After the reboot, open the Liberador app to ensure all checks are still green before you open your streaming app.
If it still fails, try VPN mode.
VPN:
-
VPN - not working: The VPN tab must show Connected. If streaming fails, restart the Google TV, reconnect to the same country before testing streaming apps.
If it still fails, then follow the same steps and try another server/country.
You can also try to switch to SmartDNS.
App Availability:
-
App not available in the Play Store?:
- Liberador app: If you cannot find the Liberador app, then change your Play Store country (How to change the Play Store Country) to one that will allow you to find the Liberador app (like France, US or Brazil for example).
- Streaming app: Some apps are region‑locked—change the Play Store country to one where the app is available, or sideload/use the web version.
