How to configure your Mac with macOS Ventura or newer
Starting with macOS Big Sur version, you can take advantage of its compatibility with the DNS over HTTPS (also known as DoH) protocol to access our SmartDNS Servers through an encrypted SSL Tunnel. This way, your Internet Provider will not be able to capture or filter your DNS communications.
To configure your Mac with our Secure DNS follow these steps:
- Download the configuration profile file available here: https://liberador.net/doh.mobileconfig
- Open the downloaded file.
- From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
- Click on Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down and click Profiles.
- Double click on the Downloaded Liberador Encrypted DNS over HTTPS profile.
- Click Install then confirm you want to install the profile by clicking the Install button.
- When prompted, enter your password to allow the profile installation.
- Restart your computer.
How to configure your Mac with macOS Big Sur or Monterey
To configure your Mac with our Secure DNS follow these steps:
- Download the configuration profile file available here: https://liberador.net/doh.mobileconfig
- Open the downloaded file
- From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences. Then click Profiles
- Click Install
- Restart your computer
How to configure older versions of macOS X (Catalina, Mojave, ...)
- From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences. Then click Network
- Select either Wi-Fi or Ethernet depending on the method you use to connect to the Internet.
- Once selected click the advanced button on the lower right hand side.
- Select the DNS tab.
- In the DNS Servers section of the window, click the Add (+) button
- Add 45.63.105.236 and 51.91.192.251
- Remove any other DNS address
- Click OK
- Click Apply
- Restart your computer
Important
First step of troubleshooting should always be to restart device(s) and router. Then check your account status in your account. You should always see 3 green check marks if the device you are using to visit the account home is set up correctly.
